St Mark’s Basilica and Campanile: tickets, queues and tours
Updated October 11, 2026 · 4 min read
The basilica and bell tower are separate visits. For most people, reserve a basilica time and treat the Campanile as an optional second ticket. A combined guided listing is useful when the mosaics need explanation; it is not necessary merely to cross the door.
What the ticket changes
The Campanile is reached only by lift; the official basilica site puts the ride at about 30 seconds. Luggage rules, opening hours and restrictions on Sundays or during services change, so check the official notice for your date.
The St Mark’s Basilica and Campanile ticket options start at €18. The Campanile is about the panorama; it does not add context to the church. A guide is most valuable inside, where mosaics, Pala d’Oro and gallery are otherwise easy to reduce to a quick circuit.
Best order
Book the basilica time first because worship and events affect access. Leave enough space before the tower slot rather than stacking them tightly. Choose the combined tour for interpretation, separate tickets for flexibility, and skip the Campanile in poor visibility. Compare current choices among the Venice attraction tickets.
